Muhammad Saleem Khan 33 years of age is a resident of Tariq Bin Ziad Colony, Sahiwal. His family went into miserable condition when his father suffered from heart disease in 1996 and became unable to carry his job. He was only twelve years of age at that time. Being an elder he had to manage the source of income to run his family by doing a small job at a nearby shop. He used to do the job in day time and in evening he continued his studies. Muhammad Saleem Khan continued his job to meet the family needs and completed his bachelors’ education. He gathered enough experience to start his stationery shop independently but due to lack of capital he was unable to turn his dreams into reality. He decided to get the financial assistance from bank. He applied in multiple banks for loan, but the loan documentation, processing fee and collateral demands were always too high. Then he heard about Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited and managed to get loan with easy monthly installment repayment. Currently he is in 2nd loan cycle with loan amount of Rs. 100,000 and every loan has resultant to increase his business inventory. Now after completing 2 years in the business, he has transformed his shop into a stationery, photocopier and tuck shop. His daily sales have increased from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000.
He wants to gather enough finances to expand his business by adding mobile sets & its accessories and later on rebrand his shop to improve his clientele.
With no working capital, he took initiative to get loan from Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited and started his independent business. His dealing in high quality office stationery with minimum margin, best customer services and concentrating on limited office items resulted in high sales for him. A year into business, he was quite confident and financially sound and added fast food items, photocopier and refrigerator on installments. He was earning good returns on his investment sufficient enough to meet his daily household expenses.
He has settled his family with better life style. He is in high spirit and says, “I never dream about success. I work for it.” Well said by Bill Gates “If you are Born poor it’s not your mistake, but if you die poor it’s your mistake.”
He has not only won a livelihood for himself but has also become a source of inspiration for others. He has also employed one person, thereby creating employment opportunities for others. He continues to weave more plans for his business.
